Set Your Goals 10X as High, it’s Easier!

I was reading Tim Ferris’s fantastic book The Four Hour Workweek and came across this fantastic quote:

It’s lonely at the top. Ninety-nine percent of people in the world
are convinced they are incapable of achieving great things, so they
aim for the mediocre. The level of competition is thus fiercest for
“realistic” goals, paradoxically making them the most time-and
energy-consuming. It is easier to raise $10,000,000 than it is
$1,000,000.

Everyone’s competing for the average positions in society, few are after the positions which offers the greater rewards.  Perhaps it’s because they feel they aren’t capable of serving that role, although it’d actually make their lives easier in the long run.  And hey, if you set your goals 10x as high, you only need to achieve at least 10% of goal to do better than your original goal!
